DUAC® Topical Gel (clindamycin, 1% - benzoyl peroxide, 5%) is indicated for the topical treatment of inflammatory acne vulagris. DUAC® Topical Gel (clindamycin, 1% - benzoyl peroxide, 5%) is contraindicated in patients who have shown hypersensitivity to any of its components or lincomycin, and in those with a history of regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or antibiotic-associated colitis. Diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, and colitis have been reported with the use of topical clindamycin. The colitis is usually characterized by severe persistent diarrhea and severe abdominal cramps and may be associated with the passage of blood and mucus. Discontinuation is recommended if significant diarrhea develops. Side effects may include erythema, peeling, burning, and dryness. Excessive or prolonged exposure to sunlight should be limited. To minimize exposure to sunlight, a hat or other clothing should be worn. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA.
